What is Nordic Data Stewardship Network (NDSN)?
The Nordic Data Stewardship Network (NDSN) is a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening data stewardship across the Nordic countries. Read more about the network here: https://datice.is/en/nordic-data-stewardship-network
Aim of the event:
Join us for the Nordic Data Stewardship Network’s Hybrid Seminar, a unique opportunity for data professionals across the Nordic region to connect, collaborate, and advance shared goals within the NDSN.
This seminar is co-organized with NeIC and will bring together experts and practitioners to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and explore best practices in data stewardship. Whether you join us in person or online, you’ll be part of a discussion shaping the future of data management in the Nordics.
Participants will enjoy inspiring talks, engaging group sessions, and opportunities for networking throughout the day.
We would be delighted to see you and highly recommend attending in person – hopefully in a beautifully sunny Finnish spring!

Keynote descriptions
Responsible use of Artificial Intelligence systems in research work and support: ethics, integrity, and compliance
Enrico Glerean, Aalto University
Whether you are a researcher or support the work of researchers, modern AI tools introduce a new range of risks that can affect the ethical, integrity, and legal compliance dimensions of research. In this talk, I present a practical framework for understanding these risks by grouping them into three categories: (1) fundamental digital risks, (2) AI-amplified risks, and (3) AI-native risks. I will also outline a set of sensible measures that researchers, research support professionals, and institutions can use to reduce these risks and strengthen responsible research practice.
FAIR management and implementation – So seamless, even the data says: That’s FAIR
Jessica Parland-von Essen, CSC
This presentation will cover the work done at CSC, where we're integrating machine-actionable Data Management Plans (maDMPs) and Dataset-as-a-Service aiming at timely metadata creation, ensuring researchers can focus on science, not administration. Driven by the EOSC Federation and Finland’s national reference architecture for research data management, our work is rooted in user-centric design and national collaboration. Together with research organizations and service providers, we’re building interoperable processes that make FAIR not just a goal, but a natural part of the research lifecycle.
Other keynote speakers will be announced soon, and their descriptions will also be added to this page.
This hybrid event will be held in English – we warmly welcome you to join onsite or online! Online participants will receive the Zoom link after registration closes.
Final deadline for registrations is 29.4.2026 – one week before the event!
