Tickets for public transportation

The easiest way to move around in Helsinki and Espoo is by public transportation using the HSL (Helsingin seudun liikenne) app. HSL covers local trains, metro, buses and trams.

You can download the HSL app from AppStore or GooglePlay. Download the HSL app and fill in the required information. Choose ‘Tickets’ tab to buy either single tickets or day tickets.

If you prefer buying day tickets (we recommend buying day tickets):

  • ABC (16.50€/2 days or 22€/3 days) is the travel zone you should get if you are arriving and leaving via the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport
  • AB (12€/2 days or 16€/3 days) is the travel zone you should get if you are arriving and leaving via one of the ship terminals or coming from another city from Finland

If you prefer to buy single tickets:

  • ABC (4,10€/90 min) is the travel zone from airport to the Scandic Grand Central Helsinki hotel and back to the airport
  • AB (2,80€/80min) is the travel zone from the Scandic Grand Central Helsinki hotel to CSC and back to the hotel

Alternatively, you can buy tickets (to which the same prices apply) from ticket machines located near the main public transportation stations/stops or from the service point of HSL located at the Helsinki central railway station. At the airport the ticket machines are located at the train platform in the floor 1 of the Arrivals hall.

Please note that you will not be able to purchase tickets from the drivers.

Current Covid-19 recommendations and restrictions in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area

For ongoing recommendations and restrictions in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area covering travel and other topics, please see the City of Helsinki resources: https://www.hel.fi/helsinki/coronavirus-en/information/recommendations-and-restrictions/

There are no restrictions related to private events currently in force in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. However, in line with the general health safety recommendations, we recommend participating in the kick-off meeting in person only when you are completely healthy.

Registration on arrival to the venue

On arrival to the Life Science Centre (see the tab "Venue"), please proceed to the Life Science Centre reception to get your visitor badge. You can keep the same visitor badge for your second kick-off meeting day.

After registering at the Life Science Centre reception, please head to the kick-off meeting sign-in desk on the same floor to confirm your arrival to the event.

Social gathering and sauna

Joining the social gathering and/or sauna is voluntary. If you are not attending the BioDT Council meeting (note: the meeting is for BioDT Council members only), you are free to move to the social gathering area called ATMOS already at 17:00.

We will be offering appetizers during the social gathering and you will be able to join the gathering without needing to go to sauna.

The sauna facilities and the meeting room for the social gathering are located in the same space but they are private from each other.

We will have towels available for those who wish to join the sauna and will have a separate sauna shift for men and women. According to your own personal preference, please remember to take a bathing suit/swimwear with you.
