Welcome to the Oulanka Research Station (https://www.oulu.fi/en/research/research-infrastructures/oulanka-research-station) for the first all-Finland software engineering and related sciences’ writing retreat.
As a well-evaluated and tested method in the M3S research unit at the University of Oulu, the writing retreat will allow you to effectively progress a paper or grant application in an exclusive environment. Just you and your laptop, and the others with the same goal of deep concentration. In addition, we will have collaborative feedback and networking opportunities for all levels of research careers. The writing retreat is open for doctoral researchers, postdocs, and professors – everyone who will commit to the week of hard work. The FAST pilot researchers are especially encouraged to participate.
The participation fee (500e) includes:
- Full-day program
- Evening program and social events
- Accommodation from Monday to Friday (2-4 people/bedroom)
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Bedlinen and towels
Please note that transportation is not included. We will, however, organize a shared bus ride from and to Oulu (for 100e). Please indicate your participation in the bus ride (Oulu-Kuusamo-Oulu) in the registration form. Ensure your other travel plans align with the bus schedule (leaving from Oulu around 8am on Monday, arriving back to Oulu around 6pm on Friday) and leave time for transit, e.g., from the airport or train station to Linnanmaa campus.
Please note that the accommodation is in shared person bedrooms. Accommodation will be shared according to wishes/gender. Single bedrooms are subject to availability. Please note that a single bedroom will be double the price (1000e).
University of Oulu staff: please use the "zero euro" registration. Your fee will be billed internally, and you must not pay during the registration process.
Registration deadline extended to: 31.8.2025
Please note that the cancellation after the end of June is not possible. However, the registration can be moved to another person.
