LUMI Road show, Kuopio and Joensuu

Welcome to hear more about the new flagship supercomputer!

CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd. will give a presentation of LUMI on Thursday, the 5th of November 2020, at the Kuopio Campus of University of Eastern Finland, in the hall SN200 (Yliopistonranta 1, Kuopio). The event will be streamed to Joensuu Campus where you can follow it in the hall AU100 (https://www.uef.fi/fi/live1). It is also possible to participate in the event remotely. The remote participation link will be sent by email on the previous day.

The European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC) aims to create a world-class computing and data management research infrastructure in Europe. LUMI is one of the three European flagship supercomputers and it will be located in CSC's data center in Kajaani where it starts its operations next year. 

LUMI will be one of the world's best-known scientific instruments and leading platforms for artificial intelligence for the lifespan of 2021–2026. This will also open up new possibilities for companies to innovate and develop new data-driven business forms.

Join us to discuss how the Finnish research, development, and innovation field can benefit from LUMI and learn about the new technologies! You will also hear how high-performance computing is being utilized at the University of Eastern Finland. The event will be held in English.

In the afternoon, researchers and research teams can meet with CSC’s experts in private meetings in order to discuss their research and the upcoming computing environment in more detail.

10:45–11:15 Discussion about LUMI

12:00–16:00 Meetings with researchers at Kuopio Campus or in Zoom

Safety instructions due to COVID-19

We will keep the recommended safety distance of two meters between the participants. CSC strongly recommends wearing a protecting face mask. Hand disinfectant will be available. If you have any doubts about your health, we kindly ask you not to participate in person.
