Co-Designing the Social Library: Tools for Community-Led Transformation
This interactive workshop equips participants with practical frameworks for reimagining libraries as inclusive, community-centered spaces. Through participatory design methods, attendees will explore how to collaboratively shape library services, spaces, and technologies that build social capital, foster civic engagement, and bridge digital and social divides.
Grounded in real-world examples and hands-on activities, the session empowers library professionals to co-create equitable and responsive environments that support thriving, informed, and connected communities.
Workshop Facilitator: Dr. Kholoud Ali Sahari
Dr. Kholoud Ali Sahari is an expert in Information Science and currently serves as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University. She joined the university in 2015 as a teaching assistant, was promoted to lecturer in 2019, and advanced to assistant professor in 2024.
Dr. Sahari has held several leadership roles, including Vice Chair of the Department and Chair of the Awareness and Community Service Committee. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science with honors in 2013, a Master’s degree from Dominican University in 2018, and a PhD in Information Science from the University of Sheffield in 2023.
