Kuvan kevät: Inkerö, Saiyar, Takala

4.5.2019 12:00

Mariliis Rebane has curated an exhibition that foregrounds new moving image works by Artor Jesus Inkerö, Azar Saiyar and Pilvi Takala. The exhibition takes place in the tower of the National Museum of Finland as part of KUVAN KEVÄT 2019, and it is open from May 4 through May 17, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Admission to the exhibition is free of charge, prebooking needed.

Museums of cultural heritage usually tell stories through material artefacts. The artists of this exhibition studied different cultural phenomenas and social interactions through fieldwork, participatory observation, and audiovisual archives. Their observations were formed as moving image works that tell about the mundane and the extraordinary. Artor Jesus Inkerö takes us to the main location of the film 'Lost in Translation'. The work of Azar Saiyar takes the visitor into the world of nature documentaries, and Pilvi Takala gives an insight into startup event SLUSH.

The exhibition is curated by Mariliis Rebane, who is currently finishing her studies at the Uniarts Helsinki's Academy of Fine Arts' Praxis Master’s Programme. She is interested in time, temporalities and processes as well as exhibiting contemporary art in the context of cultural heritages.

Because of the unique location entrance to the exhibition is only at even hours, and the number of visitors is limited. When visiting with toddlers and young children, please pay special attention to their safety. Note that the space has restricted accessibility.

The entrance is by an appointment only. Please, reserve a time from the booking calendar.

Exhibition is supported by: The Academy of Fine Arts, Arts Promotion Centre Finland, The National Museum of Finland, The Paulo Foundation
