DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the XVI Finnish Mechanics Days!\nAn open and inclusive forum for experimental\, computational\, and theoretical mechanics across scientific and engineering disciplines.\nThe conference is held 30.9.-2.10.2026 at Radisson Blu Hotel\, Oulu\, Finland.\nObjectives\nFinnish Mechanics Days promotes high-quality research in mechanics and strengthens collaboration between academia and industry. The conference brings together researchers\, engineers\, educators\, and professionals working in solid\, soil\, and rock mechanics\, fluid dynamics\, and related areas.\nThe programme reflects both established fields of mechanics and emerging developments in research and engineering practice\, including advances in digitalisation\, artificial intelligence\, and sustainable engineering.\n \nBackground\nFirst organized in Oulu in 1982\, Finnish Mechanics Days has evolved into a biennial event\, serving as a central meeting point for the mechanics community in Finland and an important venue for international exchange.\nThe conference covers a broad range of topics in the mechanics of solids\, soils\, rocks\, and fluids\, together with diverse scientific and engineering applications. Areas addressed include:\n\nstructural analysis and mechanics of materials\nfluid dynamics and fluid–structure interaction\nfracture and fatigue\nthermomechanics and micromechanics\ncontact mechanics\nstructural optimization and numerical methods\nmultibody dynamics and mechatronics\ndesign of structures and machines\nindustrial and medical applications\n\n \nConference proceedings\nParticipants are invited to prepare and submit a full-length journal article for a standard peer review process of a special issue of Rakenteiden Mekaniikka – Journal of Structural Mechanics. Another option is a short report describing a technical method or solution having interest in the fields of the journal. These reports are not peer-reviewed but assessed by editors only\, and the length of these texts should not exceed six pages.
