CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd. will give a presentation of LUMI on Tuesday, 20th of October 2020, at Tampere University in Pinni B building, hall 1096 (Kanslerinrinne 1, Tampere). It is also possible to participate in the event remotely.
The European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC) aims to create a world-class computing and data management research infrastructure in Europe. LUMI is one of the three European flagship supercomputers and it will be located in CSC's data center in Kajaani where it will start its operations next year. LUMI will be one of the world's best-known scientific instruments and leading platforms for artificial intelligence for the lifespan of 2021–2026. This will also open up new possibilities for companies to innovate and develop new data-driven business forms.
Join us to discuss how the Finnish research, development and innovation field can benefit from LUMI and learn about the new technologies! You will also hear how high-performance computing is being utilized at Tampere University. The event will be held in English.
In the afternoon, researchers and research teams can meet with CSC’s experts in private meetings in Pinni B or in Zoom to discuss their research and LUMI in more detail.

Safety instructions due to COVID-19
We will keep the recommended safety distance of two meters between the participants.
Starting from 6 October, Tampere University and TAMK instruct wearing a face mask at all times when on campus. Coming to the campus when feeling unwell is not allowed. In addition to wearing a face mask, all campus users must observe the safety precautions given previously (a safe distance from others, restrictions on gatherings, proper hygiene practices).
