Prior to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, they operated as an independent dance theater in Kharkiv, Ukraine. At the moment, part of the Ethno Contemporary Ballet company is in Finland (two dancers - Anastasiia Mostova, Kateryna Zhuravlova and choreographer - Nina Bulhakova). The artistic director and founder, Vadym Yesaulenko, is forced to stay in Ukraine.
