Admission requirements
Applicants for the Arctic Summer Programme must be:
- Bachelor's and Master's students from higher education institutions.
- Fluency in English (min. level B2). All courses are taught in English, and sufficient English language skills are needed to follow lectures and participate in group work. No tests are required.
*Admission is possible for those who are NOT currently enrolled in the University of Oulu.
A certificate of enrollment for your home institutions
Please note that you must submit official translations of your educational documents if your original documents are issued in a language other than English, Finnish or Swedish.
An official translation must be one of the following:
- issued by the awarding institution
- an officially certified copy issued by the awarding institution translated by an official translator
- an officially certified copy of a translation made by an official translator. Each page of an official translation must bear the translator’s stamp and/or signature.
*Official translations must be exact translations of the original documents. Translations done by the applicants themselves are not accepted.
Residence Permit
If you are required to have a residence permit in order to come to Finland, make sure that you will get your permit before the start of the course. This means that you should start the residence permit application process immediately as it may take 1-3 months to receive your permit. Applicants for the Arctic Summer Programme are responsible for organising their residence permit.
Travel to Oulu
Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses. You should plan to arrive in Oulu on 3rd August 2025 and depart from Oulu on 16th August 2025. Flights to Oulu are provided by Finnair. You can also travel from Helsinki to Oulu aboard VR train.
