Relational Meditation-Retreat: An Opening to Spirit

‘For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.’

The words of Jesus, "Love your neighbour as yourself.”(Mark 12:31) are both beautifully simple and endlessly challenging. How do we love ourselves? How do we extend that love into relationships with others? To live into this teaching has never felt more necessary than in these times of increasing conflict and polarisation.

This five day Relational Meditation retreat is an invitation to explore this central teaching in an experiential way, with others. The retreat will include a combination of silent and dialogic meditations, as well as guided movement and walking meditations. The guided dialogue practices will unfold in pairs and small groups. The teacher will facilitate the practice through six Insight Dialogue relational meditation guidelines that support contemplative. These are pause, relax, open, attune to emergence, listen deeply and speak the truth. As well as accessing the support of these guidelines, we will contemplate carefully crafted topics drawn from Christian and other wisdom teachings. In this way we will explore the teachings experientially and reflect on their presence and relevance in our lives.

Supported by timeless wisdom teachings, cultivating deep listening and speaking from the heart we will weave a rich community of spiritual friendship and practice. Contemplating together, the teachings come alive, a living truth and Spirit is experienced, ’..not in the I, but between you and I.’* Together we will co-create a community in spirit.

Come prepared for stillness, deep listening and open encounter with others that will allow the presence of God to be known between us. Some meditation experience or regular prayer commitment is recommended, though not essential.
