Post-Conference Event for Doctoral Researchers

Extend the conversations and connections you’ve built during the YHYS 2025 Colloquium by joining our special post-conference event on Wednesday afternoon, 26 November 2025. You will engage deeply with your peers and gain valuable insights to strengthen your research journey.

We will kick off the afternoon with an inspiring talk by Professor Lesley Green.

Then, we take your work to the next level with:

• Personalized feedback from a senior researcher on your work-in-progress
• Peer-to-peer exchange – to sharpen your feedback skills and engage in meaningful discussions in small groups
• Expert advice – to get fresh perspectives on the key issues and questions you submit to us in a world café setting.

The first part of the event will take place on campus. We will end the day at the Oulu River Sauna to connect further while taking a dip in the cold waters of the Oulu River.

To secure your spot at the event, please email us at admin.yhys2025@oulu.fi. At the event, all participants are invited to share work-in-progress, e.g. an article or a chapter, to discuss with others and receive feedback. When you register for the event, please submit 5 keywords on your work-in-progress. The deadline for sending us the actual work-in-progress is 6 October. (If your work is already ready to submit, you can send it when you register, together with the keywords.) We will use these keywords while assigning you to your discussion group and mentor. 

Please note that we have a limited amount of space, as we want to keep the groups small for effective discussion. The deadline for registration is 8 September, but the number of spots is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

We invite you to come up with questions and issues you would like to bring to the World Café session. These could include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

• Fieldwork
• Supervision
• Career development 
• Making impact
• Publishing
