Accommodation

The Organizers have reserved rooms at three hotels in Oulu for Colloquium participants. You may book rooms at any of the three hotels using our specific booking code for that hotel, listed in the table below. At each hotel, we have reserved a smaller number of rooms for Sunday night (23 November) than Monday and Tuesday nights; you may reserve a room for one, two, or three nights, as you need. Each of these hotels has a limited number of rooms reserved for us, and our reservation expires at a set date (see dates in table), after which the hotels will open those rooms to the general public. Once our allotment at each hotel is fully booked, you may still be able to reserve rooms at those same hotels, but price and availability may vary. Oulu also has a limited number of short-term rental options (AirBnB, VRBO, etc.) which may make financial sense for groups.

Note also that many of the hotels in Oulu have a negotiated Hansel rate for universities that is cheaper than the standard rate (and cheaper than our reserved rate). Generally, you need to have the hotel invoice your university in order to secure the Hansel rate.  The hotels issue a limited number of Hansel-rate rooms per night, so booking early is important. You can request that rate according to your university’s guidelines.  

All three of the hotels listed above are located in downtown Oulu. To get from downtown to the university, it is generally advisable to take a bus. Several bus lines stop at the university. We will post more detailed bus instructions at a future date. For now, you can find all bus information at their website (which also has an app available).
