About NHC 2026
The biennial Nordic Hydrological Conferences (NHC) have been a platform for the Nordic and Baltic hydrological community for decades to exchange ideas and views, new developments, and research, in an open forum and friendly atmosphere. In cooperation with the Nordic Association for Hydrology (NHF), the Nordic and Baltic countries take turns in organizing the conference with thematic priorities shaped by the host country’s concerns and interests.
In addition to the scientific agenda, the NHC has, throughout the decades, highlighted vibrant social and networking events, designed to strengthen existing relationships and foster new collaborations within the community. These gatherings have long been a hallmark of NHC, providing a friendly and collaborative environment that facilitates both meaningful connections and lasting professional bonds.
This year, the Nordic Hydrological Conference is organized in the Åland Islands, in the city of Mariehamn, on 18-20th of August 2026.
Conference theme
The conference will dive into the theme of Digital solutions in hydrology and sustainable water management. This time, we concentrate on exploring digital frontiers in water resources, water quality, and ecohydrology. We look for Solutions for water resource management and pathways for societal impact and dive into Hydrology for a changing world: observations, models, and decision support
NHC2026 will uphold its longstanding tradition of openness and flexibility, welcoming contributions that go beyond the central theme. This inclusive approach allows participants to share diverse research insights and innovative ideas across the full spectrum of hydrology.
