Welcome to SCANDEM 2026, The Annual Meeting of Nordic Microscopy Society, taking place in Oulu, Finland, June 9^th – 12^th, where we will bring together researchers, professionals, and students from across the Nordic countries to explore the latest developments in microscopy and imaging in the fields of life and materials sciences.

The conference will feature plenary lectures, scientific presentations, poster sessions, and a company exhibition. Life science topics will range from whole-organism imaging to molecular-level techniques, highlighting both technological advances and biological applications. Materials science sessions will cover imaging applications and analysis techniques, with topics including metallurgy, geology, catalysts, and nanoparticles.

As it happens, the City of Oulu will be full of cultural activities next year, as it will be the European Capital of Culture 2026. This will give you a great opportunity to enjoy both the scientific culture offered by the Scandem2026 meeting and the other types of cultural events organized by the City of Oulu and the University of Oulu.
